NIKOLA TESLA: MAN OF THE FUTURE

Exhibition marking the 160th anniversary of the inventor’s birth

(in collaboration with Bojan Stevanić & Bulb Creation Studio)

PROJECT DETAILS

“Let the future tell the truth, and evaluate each one according to his work and accomplishments. The present is theirs; the future, for which I have really worked, is mine.” (Nikola Tesla)

One of the greatest inventors and creative geniuses, Tesla’s discoveries – far ahead of their time – continue to influence present-day technological development.

With his revolutionary discoveries in the domain of transmission and utilisation of alternating current, wireless communication, remote control and mechanical engineering, Nikola Tesla (1856, Smiljan – 1943, New York), a scientific genius, engineer, inventor and discoverer of natural principles and laws, significantly stimulated the technological development of contemporary civilisation.

However, the significance of his inventions lies in their global character and universal application, rather than in their large number. In 1990 Tesla published an article titled The Problem of Increasing Human Energy, examining some of the issues that humankind would face in future, and offering concrete solutions.

“I am credited with being one of the hardest workers and perhaps I am, if thought is the equivalent of labour, for I have devoted to it almost all of my waking hours.” (Nikola Tesla)

The exhibition presents an overview of Tesla’s life and work, highlighting his visionary genius, and includes a combination of exhibits, from scale models and working models of Tesla’s inventions to films, audio recordings and multimedia information panels. The show will feature reduced-scale models of the Niagara
hydroelectric powers station, the Long Island laboratory, the Colorado Springs laboratory and vertical take-off aircraft as well as working models of induction motor with a disk-shaped rotor, Tesla’s transformer, induction motor with egg-shaped rotor, remote-controlled boat, rotating magnetic field and Tesla’s pump and turbine.
